I’m sure we have all heard the phrase that it is more blessed to give than to receive. And it really is true. It makes us happy as humans to do something nice for someone else. It is so much fun watching people’s faces light up with surprise and delight after giving them something, and I think it is more exciting to give someone a gift and watch them open it than opening one for myself.
But when it comes to our business and income, you can actually increase it more by giving more away on a consistent basis. I truly believe that when you take care of others you will be taken care of in return. Everyone who has created wealth in their lives, live by this simple principle which is actually from a biblical fundamental. It’s the 70/30 split. You live off of 70% of your income and the 30 is split into 3. 10% you put away in your savings, 10% you invest, and the last 10% you give away. A lot of people will give the 10% to their church or place where they go to get filled spiritually, or to those that pour into them. If you are not religious you can always pick a charity organization that resonates with you, something that stirs your heart and makes you want to help them out. There are lots of different options out there to choose from. This is a good habit to live by. And it is a good idea to get into this habit as soon as possible. Even if you can’t afford to give that much right away in your current situation, then start with something smaller and work your way up to the 10%. Don’t wait until you think it will be a better time, or you will be making more money. Now is the time to start. Once you step out in faith by committing to this habit with a willing heart you will be rewarded. You are sowing seeds for the future harvest. Get a system in place so it is easy to do, and once it is set up you don’t have to worry about it again. In turn you will automatically have a savings continually building and investments growing that will be making you more money, and you are making a difference to whomever you have chosen to give to. It might not be the easiest thing to do at first, but I challenge you to try it for at least a year and just see what happens.
It is so worth it!
