How do you start as an entrepreneur with love? Life by Design magazine’s mompreneur of the year top 4 finalist, Sylvia “American Love Queen” Chaves’ entrepreneurship journey revolved around love. Sylvia is a mother, wife, speaker, love coach, mentor, and writer. With all of her accomplishments, that one key ingredient that helped her is sprinkling love in every aspect of where you want to go in life.
“Yeah darling, go make it happen. Take the world in a loving embrace”
As it goes in the song Born To Be Wild, “Yeah darling, go make it happen. Take the world in a loving embrace” Sylvia didn’t start her career as an entrepreneur smoothly. Her marriage crumbled, and she had to take care of her kids. When you’re in your 40s, and you’ve been a housewife for 20 years with no experience, opportunities are rare. However, with children to think about, she had to improvise. Sylvia took up an MLM (multi-level business), and with her love for people, she grew successful. Finding a balance between being an entrepreneur and a mom can be difficult, and as a mom, your kids will always be your priority, but that should not stop you from looking into your heart and listening to your other desires in life. Sylvia did that and listened to what she wanted to make with her life. She searched for her passion and the goal of what she wants to achieve. Sylvia knew then that she wanted to embody love. The word love. From her experiences with love, she wanted to share with everybody what it would be like to take the world in a loving embrace, and the best part is, she made it happen.
Being a mompreneur is a challenge because we see it as something that involves too many sacrifices. In pursuing this career, good results are not guaranteed. Also, for some of us, when we become moms, we get tunnel vision. Some only see raising their kids as a priority and forgetting that even as a mom, we can achieve our dreams and have a family–a life. For Sylvia, she sees being a mompreneur as something that can be difficult because we forget about our goals. Balancing family and business can be challenging, especially when the business conflicts with your children’s needs. However, the beauty of being a mompreneur is that you can improvise. You can adjust your schedule to be more flexible to your family and your needs. There are no excuses to be made if you want to pursue your dream as an entrepreneur while prioritizing your life. If you feel that you are in the right place and doing the right thing, then you’re on your way to overcoming these challenges. Learning from the challenges of being a mompreneur feeds your growth.
Sylvia believes in encouraging moms to follow their dreams. As humans, we have a heart and soul, and some of us have that nagging feeling of wanting to fulfill this dream, but for some reason, we find that fear stops us from achieving this. Sylvia wants moms to realize that fear is natural and that taking a step and not let that dream or passion die is one step to greatness. As they say, do the brave thing, and bravery will follow. There are limitless possibilities of what moms can do.
With that said, one piece of advice from Sylvia is to take one day at a time. Live every day doing your best. That at the end of the day, you’d be able to smile and feel content. But also to remember not to overwhelm yourself with tasks that you think you ought to do on that day. Remember to take it slowly and don’t compare yourself with others’ progress because there is no winning in comparing yourself to others. Taking care of yourself is loving yourself.
Sylvia’s vision is all about love. The love you feel from within grows and shows on the outside. If you want to learn more about Sylvia, you can join her Facebook group for free. You can talk about things that most people don’t talk about in the Fb group.
