The Hub for Innovators, Veterans and Entrepreneurs (HIVE) is a dynamic adaptive-reuse project, breathing new life into a historic 1941 US Armory located in Winchester, Virginia. The HIVE provides Shenandoah University with a project that honors the local Winchester community and its veterans, provides dedicated space for higher education, and celebrates the building’s storied past with the University’s commitment to its future.
Through the renovation and the construction of a new addition called the “Collaboratory”, this project is now home to a range of programs from immersive technology labs and lounge spaces to an E-Sports competition arena and Veterans Center. With the meticulous restoration and the complementary modern design, this building will stand as a testament to Shenandoah’s enduring legacy, embodying its past, present, and future aspirations.
