For over 100 Years, today’s Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) has been the leading provider of support for design, planning, school systems, manufacturing, and support for professionals within the educational spaces. Our ability to provide leading-edge best practices has propelled us to the present, marked by record membership, extensive professional training opportunities, and the sharing of best practices. All of these contribute to furnishing our end users—students and teachers—with a secure, technologically equitable learning environment.
How did A4LE reach these record accomplishments? Teamwork! Through our global network of professionals, who volunteer on our behalf, we have set into motion a plan for our future that will provide success. As our Global Board Chair, I want to express our appreciation for these professionals who believe so much in our mission and vision, with the success of our students in mind.
A4LE Chapters and Regions continuously host a never-ending series of opportunities for our members to support their professional growth, interact with partners and end users, building teamwork across all levels of the association.
To keep this positive momentum moving forward, our professional staff is working to expand our symposia series, expand our credentialing offerings, and engage more local A4LE members than before. Their dedication to our collective cause provides that spark that results in success.
So, let’s get into the grassroots. Unlike any other provider, A4LE is a not-for-profit association comprised of volunteer leadership. These servant leaders are passionate about all educational success. We understand that the appearance, operation, and usability of a classroom can contribute to student success. A4LE Chapters and Regions continuously host a never-ending series of opportunities for our members to support their professional growth, interact with partners and end users, building teamwork across all levels of the association.
At the Global level, for example, every year A4LE hosts a series of symposia related to topics of the day. Our members have participated in continuing education activities that highlight leading-edge design, educational strategies related to design, early childhood education, and school safety. This year we have added career and technical education (CTE), special education, and sustainability to this menu—offering our members more opportunities for professional development and growth. While attending our 2024 LearningSCAPES Conference in Portland, OR, our members and guests will see an expansion in programming, vendor areas, and session deliverables. You will be impressed!
While returning to more face-to-face activities is a focus, A4LE is also expanding our online opportunities for professional certifications. Our Association firmly believes that member service is a top priority and providing professionals the services they need is key to our continued success.
With almost two decades in the construction management field and serving on the School Board for over 20 years in our home community of Greenville, South Carolina, I was recently asked why I volunteered for service to A4LE?
Easy, my desire to see that every school in every community that we serve has the same unbelievable opportunities my kids have seen, that every teacher and student is enthusiastic every day, and that a school building that provides that “wow” factor can contribute to that outcome. I have volunteered most of my adult life. From a parent fundraising chair at my children’s school, to a parent volunteer leader, to serving as the first male National PTA President, and more, I have seen desperation in the eyes of those who have little opportunities. I have heard teachers ask, “why can’t we have that?” A4LE has in its hands the tools that it takes to provide success. Join Us!
Come along for a ride that will give you a smile and at the end of the day, when you stop and look back over your shoulder, you can say you did something that mattered! To learn more visit: A4LE.org
