Designed by PBK Architects, this new high school represents a bold reimagining of what public education can be—an inspiring, inclusive, and forward-looking campus set within one of the fastest-growing communities in the district. More than just a response to growth, the school is a statement of vision: that architecture can shape opportunity, strengthen community, and spark a lifelong passion for learning. From its flexible learning environments to its resilient infrastructure, every element was carefully crafted to reflect PBK’s belief that great design empowers people and transforms everyday experiences.
The 3,400-student campus unites diverse academic pathways within a cohesive architectural framework that celebrates connection and curiosity. The layout encourages interdisciplinary learning, blurring the boundaries between traditional and specialized programs. Purpose-built environments for Science, Art, Theater, Culinary Arts, Automotive Technology, Cosmetology, and E-Sports replicate real-world settings, allowing students to immerse themselves in professional-quality spaces that prepare them for college, careers, and beyond. These specialized areas are supported by open collaboration zones, flexible labs, and informal gathering spaces that promote interaction and spontaneous exchange of ideas. The result is a living, breathing ecosystem of discovery—where learning extends beyond the classroom walls.
PBK’s design approach is rooted in the principles of resilience, longevity, and environmental stewardship. The building’s structure—crafted from tilt-up concrete panels with cement fiber siding— balances durability and design elegance. This approach provides cost-efficiency, construction precision, and storm-hardening strength essential to Florida’s climate, while expressing rhythm, depth, and warmth through its material palette. The architectural composition is both pragmatic and poetic— designed to endure while celebrating texture, proportion, and human scale.
Natural light and transparency are essential drivers of the school’s architectural language. The campus unfolds around a series of interconnected courtyards and shaded walkways that create moments of pause and interaction. These outdoor spaces serve as extensions of the classroom—places for collaboration, reflection, and connection with nature. Interior design elements were chosen with equal care: color palettes that evoke calm energy, acoustical treatments that support concentration, and materials that withstand time while maintaining beauty. Together, these elements cultivate a sense of belonging and well-being for students and teachers alike.
The school’s proximity to Lake Wimauma inspired a site-sensitive and sustainable design response. PBK integrated stormwater systems, ecological buffers, and pedestrian networks that protect and enhance the site’s natural features. Sustainable design strategies reduce environmental impact while educating students about stewardship and responsibility. The landscape becomes a learning tool—an ever-present reminder that sustainability is not an abstract goal but an active, daily practice woven into campus life.
The campus design also emphasizes community engagement and adaptability. Spaces are intentionally multipurpose, capable of serving students by day and the broader community after hours for performances, events, and continuing education. The school becomes a civic anchor—a place where learning and life intersect, and where education is celebrated as a shared community value.
This new high school is a true investment in the future of students, families, and the region it serves. PBK Architects’ design expresses optimism, equity, and resilience, providing a model for next-generation educational environments. It embodies a commitment to design that is both functional and inspirational, grounded in the belief that every student deserves a place that fosters creativity, curiosity, and connection. Durable yet uplifting, high-performing yet human, this campus stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design to shape not only a school, but the spirit of a community.
