Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) advances career and technical education through the KRESA Career Connect Campus, a centralized hub that prepares students and adult learners for high-demand careers. Serving nine public school districts, 19 private schools, and 23 regional districts across Kalamazoo County, the campus brings diverse programs together in a collaborative environment designed to support real-world, hands-on learning, the campus brings diverse programs together in a collaborative environment that supports real world, hands-on learning.

The 164,000 sq. ft. facility fosters a welcoming atmosphere that strengthens wellbeing and engagement through authentic Michigan biophilic elements. A 100% living moss wall greets students and visitors, setting the tone of naturalness upon entry. Organized spaces connect instruction with application, allowing students to move easily between classrooms and labs while collaborating across disciplines. Transparent shared environments increase visibility, spark curiosity, and build connection, reinforcing a culture of exploration and discovery.

The Career Connect Campus sets a new benchmark for mass timber design and inspired state legislation that supports wider adoption in schools. Students’ demand for a sustainable solution is achieved through a mass timber structure. Timber sourcing also kept the project on budget and on schedule during supply chain disruptions.
