Over the past several years, Brazoria County has experienced significant growth, expanding from Pearland in the north to Angleton in the south. Angleton ISD, benefiting from low taxes, low crime rates, and an excellent school district rating, has seen a rise in its student population. To maintain unity as a small town and meet the needs of the region’s industries, Angleton ISD decided to increase student capacity and provide modern educational facilities. This led to the construction of a new Career, Technology, and Engineering Center connected to the existing high school campus. The project was completed in August 2022, following the district’s 2019 Masterplan and bond approval in November 2019.
Angleton ISD’s significant growth led to the construction of a Career, Technology, and Engineering Center connected to the existing high school campus. Emphasizing the main street was crucial for student engagement in the new addition. All paths lead to this central thoroughfare, which goes beyond accessing classrooms. Students are encouraged to explore curated programs, socialize in corridor spaces, collaborate with friends in think tanks, and find nooks for individual or small group study. The new CTE and High School Renovation brought cost savings by adding classrooms to the existing High School, eliminating the need for a new addition. Moreover, it created intrinsic value by enabling the district to produce economically responsible adults through CTE certification programs. This benefits the local economy and industries. By equipping students and teachers with top-notch facility resources, the CTE supports the development of an educated workforce, crucial for community success.
Wellness is integral to Angleton’s CTE purpose and design. The facility promotes physical wellness through improved air quality, daylighting, and access to green spaces. Intellectual and occupational wellness are fostered by offering a stimulating learning environment. Social wellness is addressed through dedicated spaces for collaborative and individual study. Community wellness is enhanced through programs like Health Sciences, where students contribute their skills to industry wellness. The CTE fosters the community’s unity and growth. It offers certification programs in various fields, such as Welding, Agriculture, IT, Robotics, Health Sciences, Vet Tech, Cosmetology, A/V and Digital Design, ROTC, and Education, benefiting local businesses. The Vet Tech, Cosmetology, and Culinary Arts programs are accessible to the public, resembling storefronts in commercial development. The main street commons promote collaboration between programs and serves as a space for community events.
